Welcome to Swerve Customs, based in beautiful Albuquerque, NM.

Hi, I’m Matthew Ortiz, and I love motorcycles. Working out of my single car garage, I create one motorcycle at a time. There is no real secret to what I do. I buy bitchin’ old motorcycles and update, rebuild, and fabricate them until I am satisfied. Why do I do this? Well, I am extremely passionate about working with my hands and, did I mention I love motorcycles?!

The part I enjoy most about building a custom motorcycle is…EVERYTHING!! I do most of the work myself, not to prove anything, but because I really enjoy learning and mastering new skills, working through challenges, and understanding how things work. This doesn’t mean I don’t rely on others where I fall short, or that I settle for mediocre results. Knowing your limits and when to push them, and knowing when it’s time to ask for help are key. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some great people with amazing skills that help me out when needed.

The two questions I get asked most often are: “How can you sell a bike that you put so much time and energy into?” and “Do you ever do commissioned builds?”

My answer to the first question is simple – I love the build process! Don’t get me wrong, riding a motorcycle is the most freeing feeling I’ve ever known, and I do enjoy each bike thoroughly upon completion. Test riding is one of the perks, for sure! But at the end of the day, I just don’t have room to keep but one bike. That is a problem for someone who simply likes to build motorcycles. The solution I came up with is, enjoy the build, enjoy the ride, and hope it goes to a good home.

To the second question, I say I am enthusiastically open to it! Just contact me below and hopefully we can make something cool. Also, if you just need a hand on part of your build and think I could help, feel free to get in contact with me!

Take a look around and, as always, keep your knees in the breeze!
